Research on Sexuality Education Effect for Adolescents with Mental Disability

The research aims to explore the effect of sexuality Education on sexual behaviors self-protection and sexuality knowledge of adolescents with mental disability in different Education settings. Referring to Guideline of Sexuality Education for Students with Moderate or Severe Mental Disability ,the researcher designed Sexuality Education Curriculum for Adolescents with Mental Disability and chose two parts of the curriculum : development and Health of sex physiology, association of both sexes to compile textbook . After that, the researcher gave the students both in Children’s Center of Chongqing University and Xinyu Community Family of Chongqing 15 lectures(40 minutes each period, 600 minutes in total ) .During the experiment, the researcher did interviews to collect data to analyze the effect of sexuality education with questionnaires and sexuality education curriculum designed by the researcher herself.The research comes to the conclusion that:1. there are some inadaptive sexual behaviors among adolescents with mental disability2. and they are weak in self-protection and badly lack of sex knowledge3. short-term sexuality education curriculum haven’t notably improved their sexual behaviors4.sexuality education have notably improved their awareness of self-protection5.sexuality education have improved their knowing of sexual knowledge effectively6.totally speaking, the contents, principles and methods used in the research areeffective7.the same model of sexuality education has no notable difference in differenteducation settingsThe researcher also talks about the limitations of the research and suggestions to the follow-up researches.
